    Unlikely with our Hispanic majority.

It appears the four frontrunners (Nirenberg, Lopez, Bernal and Villarreal) are already positioning themselves with the news of Castro's departure...and none of them fit that description as far as I know.

If anything, I expect it to get worse...

Did it get better when Cisneros did basically the same thing? The good people aren't outnumbered- they're just mostly bad voters.

San Antonio at-large will be a handout-dependent voting block until the end of time.

No amount of manufacturing or free market economy will ever turn the tide. Why does San Antonio have two chambers of commerce? One for Hispanics and the other one for everyone else? (It is no surprise AT&T fled to Dallas, and Toyota Sales did not pick DOSA to park their butts close to their truck manufacturing plant).

Search every biography of the Castro brothers, and not one explains who funded their Stanford and Harvard educations.

Their mother was never married to their father (who bolted when the boys were 8 y/o), was a low level city employee, & was a La Raza activist (the name "La Raza" itself is racist). There is no open record of the father ever having paid child support.

Who bankrolled the Castro brothers' education at elite leftist west and east coast, high-falutin' Universities (Stanford/Harvard)? Mayor Castro is proud he got there through affirmative action -- last time I checked, he's not really part of that class, and how many Asians & Anglos get the same preference?

Pre-K for SA is just another leftist indoctrination formula to relieve parents of the responsibility to raise their kids. We have to pay for it with sales taxes.

If Henry Cisneros is an indicator of the Peter Principle, we can be sure Castro will follow a similar path.

San Antonio is a conservative majority, I still believe. For some reason, there are no viable conservative/Republican candidates putting the money and time to win elections here. Hispanic Democrats are winning by default.

One of the real victories of the Obama Democrats is the use of race politics and the positive association of minorities with the Democrat party. Wasn't Bush largely successful with Hispanic voters in Texas? Now it seems that even traditional, conservative Hispanics are going along with the Democrats.

Excellent points. Phony, Manchurian candidates for sure.

Sadly San Antonio will continue to move left until it becomes Detroit then they will blame the GOP.

I do agree that we should focus more on getting our side out to vote.

Sorry, but in as much as I'd like to agree, I can't. San Antonio is no longer a "conservative majority" with the large growth of the Hispanic community in addition to the huge influx of California refugees that are ignorant to the fact that their liberal mindset is what ruined the economy of that great state in the first place!

Unfortunately, I don't see this trend changing and traditional, conservative Hispanics are diminishing. The "new guard" is clearly feeling entitled and believes it is getting its just rewards despite the reality that it isn't happening.

Our hope lines in the governorship. A win by Abbott will help secure that our government, at least at the state level, will not succumb to the "bluing" of Texas; but even that is a temporary victory as with the growing liberal base in Houston, Dallas and Austin, this state will one day fall as well. I just hope I am not around to see it, and if I am, I'll have the foresight to move somewhere where traditional, conservative American values are still respected!

Not "new", in that standard Democrat socialism, reflexive anti-Americanism, and racism are nothing new...just another festering hive of scum and villainy. Soon with STREETCARS!

There was never any doubt that he aspires to be the first Hispanic US president. I think the Dems are lining him up to be their successor to Hillary. God help us if any of that happens!

Or the liberal asshats in Austin. Add to that as I'd never live in Dallas/Ft Worth area, there aren't really any other choices.

Despite its political leanings, we still think that San Antonio is the best city in Texas!
