If you don't have a CHL, will you now get one?

If you have a CHL will you do anything differently?

How do you all think various police depts. and DPS will react?

I would look forward to carrying OWB instead of mostly carrying IWB for concealment. I will not just OC with no outer garment, but it will be nice to carry and not worry about your clothing completely covering at all times.

I wonder about the police and myself also. It's gonna be different seeing folks walking around and not go DEFCON 3
and which stores or private property owners might go the 30.06 route where they have not in the past because they don't want OC on their property.

it's going to take some adjustment

Like you I will not completely open carry but for sure during the summer months Ill carry OWB with a fullsize M&P with a tshirt hanging over it.

I dont patronize 30.06 establishments anyway so that wont be much of a concern.

Will carry OWB, maybe a full size. Tshirts draped over it but now worried if it shows.

Will probably still carry the Shield at times for comfort.

I hear ya on the 30.06, but I am thinking many more will go that route after OC becomes law, much like the knee jerk reaction was when CC became law

I think for most it will just be s switch to "relaxed carry" or "comfortable carry".

I won't do anything differently. I prefer CC over open carry. I don't worry about "printing" or an inadvertent exposure with concealed carry as it is not against the law. I don't think the PD or Sheriff's Dept. will do anything different around here (being rural and all). Some businesses might get a little freaked out but overall I don't think it's going to be a big deal around here.

I don't plan to change how I daily carry, but I certainly would welcome the option to carry OWB if the need or desire arises.

I will OC on the weekends. I plan on taking a "belt" holster and modifying it to go under my steering column for ease of access.
I need some more 2nd Amendment shirts to tuck in...

I carry on an out of state license, if law says must have a CHL, then that will be the final push for me to get one. (Nothing against having one, just something I have been procrastinating on :) )

I probably won't straight out OC just to OC, but as many have said, I won't be going to great lengths to cover up.

I think big city PD's are going to hassle OC'ers at first. Some disagree, but I just don't see some of these city departments welcoming it and will need to get use to it. It might not even be by officer's choice, I think many may be be responding to MWG calls. I think there will certainly be an adjustment period for metro LE as well as irrational liberal and shit stirrers , but honestly, that's just my feeling and I'm not basing it on more then that. I hope I am wrong.
I don't think there will be any problems with DPS.

I'm recently back to TX from 12 years in the Atlanta area. GA license allows OC and in 12 years I think I only saw 2 OC'ers.

If the TX law should allow it, I predict a huge increase in 30.06 signs.

I think this law includes a provision for a new sign (30.07?) which would disallow open carry but allow concealed carry...is that right? I don't plan to change my behavior appreciably but there is one thing I am wondering. Since this bill is about licensed open carry...what leeway will there be for a LE to stop and identify someone just based on the fact that they are openly carrying?

I too just came here from the ATL area. I open carried on my way to and from my hunting lease and occasionally on the weekends while running up to the grocery store to get a few things. Not once in my 10 years there did I ever get hassled or asked to leave.

If there are an increase in 30.06 signs, then we will have our next issue to be addressed. In my opinion, if a business owner asks you to leave then you should leave or get arrested for criminal trespass, but they should have to so in person (or through an authorized representative), not through a sign.

From someone living in a state (Nevada) that allows OC, I can give you examples of LEOs sometimes being dicks. Some "confrontations" have been on Las Vegas Boulevard South (the Strip) where all the major casinos are located. Those were resolved with letters to then sheriff Gillespie and he straightened the troops out. A major band of LEO dicks have been in North Las Vegas and Boulder City. Their respective police departments hassled those who open carried in their cities, stating that their city laws trumped state law, for about 4 years until we got rid of the pussy governor, Guinn. Then the matter was resolved with a few more "incidents" added to the legal wrangling.

I have no doubts that if the OC bill in Texas becomes law, ya'll will see plenty of instances like we had in North Las Vegas and Boulder City .... and those instances will, most likely, end up in some court somewhere. You will have the hard core "NO ONE is going to open carry in my town" types of LEOs but they'll end up, after lawsuits, following the open carry law.

I won't be doing an OC Wally Walk. I will continue to carry concealed mostly, but may try out the OWB holster that came with my XDm. With an untucked shirt over it tho. I think I would feel too self conscious to openly carry. That may change if I see others doing it.

I like the idea of being able to open carry while on long trips in my vehicle. It would probably be more comfortable. I can finally wear that cross draw holster that I bought several years ago.

I don't like the idea of advertising, no reason to be the first target from a bad guy. I do like the idea of not getting nailed for an accidental peek, or needed adjustment in public.

Other OC states have proven that this is not the case, and usually the bad guy will abandon his attempts at robbing an establishment if they see someone OCing.
