TLDR: if your DL doesn't have the white star in golden circle, it's not yet REAL ID compliant, and TX DPS is encouraging you to renew early.

Meh, I rarely air travel unless it is for work and if needed, I'll just use my Passport. I'll renew online this year regardless since it expires. I've got a DoD ID card too, so that covers me until its time.
