In the past, when renewing my own CHL DPS wanted me to include a copy of my instructor certificate when sending materials to them for renewal.
I just renewed my CHL online again yesterday, and there is now a place to check if you are a certified instructor renewing your license. The receipt page and checklist stated that I need to send nothing in.
I guess they figured out that they already know if a person is an instructor without seeing a copy of the cert.
