Does anyone have any feedback on knives by Johnson Adventure Blades? I guess they make some stuff for Ka-Bar. Any feedback (good, bad or ugly) is appreciated.
From reading around on the website it appears Ka-Bar makes the knives from his designs. Seeing as Ka-Bar is a large knife manufacturer I would assume that to be the case.
They list the blade metal as '440'. Not 440A, B, or C. Usually when they do that, it's 440A. Cheap kitchen knives, China made folders are 440A. It's the lowest grade of the three. I carry a benchmade 552 in 440c. The difference between 440a and 440c...The A stuff is crap.
Ka-Bars are 1095 carbon and they say their '440?' will hold an edge close to it.....That's a bunch of crap. I call B.S.
For $50 more, you can find a knife made with D2, AUS8, 154CM or 440c.
I have a Pot Belly, it came with 1095 Cro-van steel. So far it has been a solid knife and the blade coating is some tough stuff. The sheath it came with is awesome and can hold a ton of stuff. The small knife that is included is just meh, as it is 440A steel and is hard to keep a decent edge on it.
