I bought an Ontario RAT 5. Liked the knife but was not fond of the slab type scales. Felt like I was holding a board, or piece of lumber. I ordered G10 brown and black scales for RAT 5 from The Knife Connection. https://www.theknifeconnection.net/ontario-rat-5-and-7-g10-handle-brown-and-black/ They arrived yesterday. Wow. Major improvment in the feel of the knife in my hand. Instead of squred edges, it is rounded. Original scales were .25" in thickness each. The new ones are .30" in thickness. It is actually making grip of knife .1" thicker but with the rounded edges. it does not feel thicker. And yet if fills the hand perfectly and feels much better in hand than with the original slab scales. And it makes knife look even better too. My wife hates knives. For the first time in my 33 years of mariage, she actually liked this knife with new scales.
