I don't "play" fight and I don't know how NOT to hurt you. Unless he puts his hands on you, I'd let it lay.

My dad warned my brother that one day he wouldn't be able to outrun his mouth.

When my brother came home black and blue.

"Couldn't out run him?" asked my dad.

    "Nope" said my brother.

And that was the end of that lesson.

The kid will get his sooner than later. Me, I've been in a few scrapps and I don't ask for that kind of trouble anymore.

I would tell my friend that's don't play these types of games. I will teach him a lesson should he push the envelope.

I would tell the son it would not be in his best interests to attempt to play such games with me. I understand it may be a family thing, but I'm a family friend, not family.

I mulled this over again and want to take another run at it. Skill in a conflict is important but motivation is more important. This punk is from your friend's family and you will be less intent on smashing him into bite size pieces because of that. Secondly, you are an adult and he's a snot. The adult says "I shouldn't be doing this." The snot doesn't care one way or another. You have two powerful enemies against your success right there. Let it lay.

I'm an old buzzard long past his fighting days. Here's a response that I've used several times:

"Son, you CAN'T possibly beat me.
If you whip me, you have to go around bragging that you beat up an old man,
If I whip YOU, you'll have to live with the knowledge that an old man whipped your asX!"

    Just a thought.

not sure how old you are - but just because he wants to act like an immature tough guy - doesnt mean you have to do the same

exactly what are you proving by kicking his ass?

I would at least say something to your friend, not necessarily you will kick his son's ass, but something....

    Agree.

Testosterone is an important survival tool. It is also responsible for talking men in to doing 90 percent of the shit that we regret later.

Let it lay, talk to the friend if you feel it's necessary, let the "kid" know your not in to those kind of games in a mature way, and if that doesn't fix things, remove yourself from the situation.

I would tell the dad that his son that should be grown is a punk, and I would just stop going over there. The dad can visit at your place if he wants, but the son isn't invited.
