I have my issues with George W. Bush and his Presidency. I don't "dislike" the man, but certainly did not agree with some of his decisions. My wife started reading her book and I must say, I saw a side of her I never knew. I have always thought she was a classy, graceful woman, but I certainly did not know the strength of character she has and the adversities she has had to overcome. She truly is an amazing woman and indicative of what a First Lady should be.

Edit: I meant Laura Bush! LoL!

Yes she is! I saw her on Oprah and other talk shows this week and she is very honest and open. She is a great Christian lady and Texas can be proud that she represents our great state. I don't usually watch Oprah but my wife had me record the show so we could see Mrs Bush. Oprah treated her with respect ( knowing how she feels about G W )

Both George Bush and Mrs. Bush are two terrific people. I have seen them meet quitely with family members of vets. I have an interesting photo and some info on the Ft. Hood shooting I'll email you if you contact me at happycamper@grandecom.net. The Bushes drove to Ft. Hood and visited some of the wounded. The MP at the gate notified his commander that "the President is on post". They were looking all over for Obama. When they found the Bushes, driving by them selves, he turned down their offer of escorts because he didn't want to take anyone away from their post. When Obama found out he asked them to leave. Bet you didn't see that on the six o'clock news.

He used to plan his holidays so the secret service staff could be with their families. He invited them and their families to the ranch for a Christmas party and he and Laura made family photos with each of them and several other invited guests. I did not meet one of his protective detail that did not appreciate him nor did any have one negative word to say about him. You should have heard the stories of the Clintons and how they treated their detail.

Through some odd circumstances, I happened to get to talk to some Secret Service guys that served on Bush Sr.'s detail. They are pretty much sworn to secrecy, but it was pretty clear that they were very fond of the Bush family. The Bush's made a point of trying to schedule things so the Secret Service guys could be with family or the family could be with them. They said G.B. Sr. really got a kick out of Dana Carvey's imitation of him. Don't know how things might be with the "O", but I do know that they were NOT fond of Hillary (to say the least).

I have met several Secret service guys that had personal interaction with the Bush's (all 4). No one has ever had a harsh word for any of them. They are the definition of Ladies and Gentlemen. While many decry "W" as lacking intellect, he is certainly a respectful, kind man. Exactly as a Texan should be.
