I was finally getting around to pulling some weeds around what's left of my black eyed peas today(rabbits have been pretty hard on them). And learned two things I wasn't planning on learning.

First, I can draw from concealment in a shit my pants situation smoothly without shooting myself in the ass. Seems simple but I always wondered how I would do under stress.

Second, I can't hit a moving copperhead with my shield.

Interesting evening to say the least.

Why are you shooting at gingers?

    I'd shoot at it too!

    Ratshot is (shotshells) the answer!

This. I keep a cheap (ProMag) magazine loaded with snake/rat shot loads just in case we need them. Just wish I could find the stuff in centerfire calibers for less than $1.50/round (and even rimfire can run into the ridiculous. $5 for 10 rounds of .22LR loaded with #12? No thanks, CCI).

If you reload, snakeshot is the very cheapest, easiest round to reload. No reason whatsoever for them to be as expensive as they are. Reloading a .38 Spl, .44 mag., 45 ACP etc. costs less than ten cents a round if you buy everything for it.

Commercial rat shot does not provide enough back pressure to cycle a Beretta 92F. Hence, my secondhand Charter Arms Off Duty .38 lawn mower gun.

I'm man enough to admit that going in to burning buildings doesn't concern me too much, but snakes....well, they just need to die.

I need a small .38. Only thing I got now is my Blackhawk and it wouldn't be as easy to carry around the yard.

    I agree with both paragraphs.

I hate snakes. Been almost bitten too many times.

For me shooting snakes is only a consolation after I run off screaming like a little girl and compose myself. ;)

    Glad you didn't get bit.
