So how do you find out if a rifle is worth something

take it to a qualified and reputable gun dealer and have it appraised!

You can do some research an manufacturer's website. If it is a Winchester, contact the Winchesyer Historian. For Mossbergs, there used to be a likk for the Mossberg Owner's group on Shotgun World.

If you don't know the actual value of the rifle, it may difficult to arrange a reasonable sale price.

I have seen pics of the rifle, and checked the s/n....it's a 2008 Winchester Model 70 Featherweight "Limited Edition" in EXCELLENT condition w/a Leupold scope - can't discern the power of the scope, but appears to be a 4x12. They're in San Antonio....Dury's offered them $800, they're looking for $1k. If you want it, text me and I'll put you in touch w/them.

Generally you’re correct, but to call me an idiot because you forgot to mention caliber indicates you might need some rest.

That said, seems like a nice rifle and should move quickly!

Yeah, that's basically true. This whole thread could reasonably be interpreted as an attempt to circumvent the Classifieds and the rules therein. Those rules provide some protection against misunderstandings and scams.

I should delete this thread but I'll just lock it.

If anyone uses this thread to get a line on the rifle, understand that there are risks involved. The presence of TexasRedneck mitigates against that sufficiently that I'm willing to leave the thread visible. Another mod may feel different.
