I am thinking of going to a LW commander size 1911. I have Colt, but dang that thing weighs a ton. I also have a S&W 1911PD scandium but it is full size and a bother to carry, it is a bit too long. So looking to merge these worlds. Wondering if there is some advice on a unit that will not break the bank.

Well the bank is empty right now, besides now is not the tiem to buy. I was hoping to keep it at about a grand to 1500, if possible, less is better. Probably no Taurus and other ilk, would like 45acp

My sister-in-law worked in Kimber CS for over a decade. I could have purchased 1 Kimber a year for half price.

I don't own any Kimber pistols nor have I. My SIL told me I was crazy if I did.

That could work. Essentially I am looking to see what others have, how they like them etc. Since I will not be buying until this panic is over.. I thought I would solicit some input, and I do appreciate yours

Are you set on 45 acp? I have a Colt lwc in 38 super that's been a safe queen. Probably have 5 mags for it and several hundred rounds. It may make it to the tgt classifieds later this week.

I often carry a DW Guardian in 45acp. Noticeably lighter than the Vbob, but feels quite similar, even more so after the work I have done on it. If they still make them, they should be around that price range....I think.
