Training rifle- This rifle is missing all the normal markings associated with Imperial Arisaka rifles: so no mum, aresenal or serial number. Series 1 mark? The training rifles were either smooth bore or straight rifling because they were designed to shoot blanks or sometimes wood bullets. 50 inch overall length! No duffle cut.
    Caliber / Gauge: 7.7 x 58MM (6.5x50mm normally)
    Barrel Length: 31"

This is full-sized trainer (not 7/8 size) that were used for blanks. Wiki Info Another mention
Own a neat piece of History. Stock intact. $250 or trade case of SB/Blazer brass 9mm

    Is this rifled or smooth?
I call this more of a "textured" lining. Smoothish? Bit bumpy??

Notice the cylinder coming up from lower corner>> That is a pin. I've heard these shot wooden blanks or just blanks. Poor, unfullfilled battle rifle- just shot blanks it's whole life... gotta be a joke in there somewhere.

Is a beautiful, untouched piece of History. Patina is original- This has been in family for 60 years and I know nobody did anything other than bit of oil: bore pic agrees. Would make great wallhanger for History buff man cave.

I believe the bolt is incorrect as I read that the trainers didn't don't have locking lugs, but this one does. I read that these were bringbacks and the bolts were all gathered into a pile to curtail shenanigans on the return voyage, then randomly redistributed upon arrival. Didn't register that these were more hand-fitted and less interchangeable than USGI equipment of the day. This one works pretty smoothly, functions *click*.
