I have been debating on getting a few MAGPUL mag assists or ranger plates floorplate replacements for my AR mags, but I am not sure if they are worth the trouble...
Does anyone use them, and if so, do they really help?
I've read where the ranger plates can somewhat help stabilize the rifle by allowing the magazine to rest on the ground, a vehicle hood, etc. I don't see it really helping with the extraction of a mag from a vest holder as it would be difficult to get a gloved finger in that small hole (which I've learned is hard rubber and is a bit pliable).
The mag assists do have larger loops on them, but other than helping get them from a holder I don't see them making for a good resting place to shoot from.
Thoughts?
