Fireworks?? I doubt that. The initial damage and fire may have been, but that one gigantic blast must have been something else.

Ammonium nitrate is the latest claim.
I can’t help but think that red smoke is an indicator of particular munitions.

Now saying it started in the fireworks warehouse and detonated 2700 tons of ammonium nitrate.
In the longer videos that show the fire before the explosion, you can see the fireworks going off amidst the smoke.

    Yep. Military grade stuff.
Would tend to make sense, from the videos I watched.
Today's headline: "Fact-checkers conclude Beirut explosion was not nuclear blast and Lebanon cites ammonium nitrate stored in warehouse as the cause"
...which I found odd. Wonder who asked the question? Is that what a suitcase nuke bang would look like?

I asked my best friend from high school. He was in the EOD for 20 years in the army he recently retired. He also consulted with some of his other counterparts. He said two things.

When asked about the ammonium nitrate theory:

" that would be a large and tightly packed amount of ammonium nitrate to create a concussive shockwave like that"

    When reviewing the videos:

"Ok yes this was definitely a detonation seeing it from this video. The shockwave on the ground moves like what is seen from many culvert explosions. This could have been a planned attack."
