My biggest problem is going to be finding a good place to secure them where no one could see them with out really looking around. Not to many hiding spots on a 50 foot houseboat. Id hunt someone down if they stole my guns.

If I go the PVC route couldn't I just throw one of those burlap bags full of silica beads in it? Or would I need more than that?

if you seal the moisture in you are still screwed. MAke sure you add something to absorb moisture if you go the PVC route.
Might as well thrown in some oxygen absorbers, too... No oxygen, nothing can oxidize. ...or fill it with nitrogen, argon, or some other inert gas.
