Anyone have experience with Monarch ammo? What is the big difference between brass and steel?

I shoot monarch brass and haven't had a single issue. Folks say that steel will mess up your innards over time, but I dont know that to be true. I just figured that steel case and steel bolt and barrel chamber could make for some pretty interesting malfunctions so I just mitigate by shootin the soft stuff.

Reviving another old thread...Anyone know the muzzle velocity and ballistic coefficient of monarch's brass-cased 55gr .223 FMJ? (The kind you find at Academy) I'm trying to get ballistics in Point Blank (v1.8a).

The brass ammo is actually repackaged Prvi Partizan from Serbia. Same with Wolf Gold. It's alright.
The steel cased stuff is probably from somewhere in Russia.
Also I don't know if it would be worth tracking down specifics and creating a ballistics table for the cheap stuff because it's just not consistent enough. Try to get some generic numbers for M193 loadings and I guess that'll get you close enough.
ETA:
My quick research shows that M193 loads start around 3100 fps and have a G1 of .304. With a sight over bore distance of 2.8 inches (close enough to an AR15, yes?) and a 50 yard zero, my drop chart is gonna look something like this:
100 yards: 1.79 inches high
150 yards: 2.5 inches high
200 yards: 2 inches high
250 yards: .25 inches high
300 yards: 2.95 inches low
350 yards: 7.73 inches low
400 yards: 14.25 inches low
500 yards: 33.26 inches low
600 yards: 61.78 inches low
Yours might be different but it's all ballpark figures with this load anyway.

you'll have to look it up under Prvi Partizan. should be around 3200fps. BC should be G7 0.120.

lots of deals can be found. lots of guys offer up single stage reloaders with the works, when they switch to progressives.
