I'm looking at getting a Mossberg 500 SPX. A friend is an FFL dealer and can get me a a new one at significantly lower than the MSRP. Any specific "no-go" opinions on this platform? I like the way it looks but looks aren't everything. I'm just looking for a shotgun that is simple to shoot/painless to clean and packs a punch. All the other bells and whistles it comes with are nice but not necessary. What do y'all think?

I was thinking the same thing. BUT, there is a Mossberg 500 Tactical at a local sports store for $400 (significantly less than what I'd be paying for the SPX). I could just add a picatinny rail on the top later. However, how easy is it to change the sights from the bead sight to a ghost ring or other sight? Also, can the Mossberg 500 Tactical series accept a rail system on the side or bottom of the forearm?
