MOSSBERG & SONS INC 500 Special Purpose Chainsaw

Certainly one of the most unusual-looking guns to come out is the Mossberg
500 Chainsaw. Built in the iconic Mossberg 500 action, the Chainsaw is a
pistol-grip pump-action shotgun with no stock. While guns like this are
desirable for home defense, they're notoriously hard to control while
firing, a problem that Mossberg has solved by attaching a wrap-around
chainsaw-style hand grip to the pump. Intended to be fired from the hip,
this top handle allows the user to cycle the action while simultaneously
maintaining leverage above the gun to help tame muzzle flip. In addition to
the chainsaw-style grip, the 500 Chainsaw has a stand-off barrel that can
be used to breech doors and three rails that can mount accessories.

Watch him attempt to aim the thing....I'm sorry - but did they get some X-Box game-lovin' 12 year old to come up with this complete farce of a "firearm?!???

If you have to have a pistol grip shotgun, it makes sense. I like the innovation, but it does have mall ninja written all over it.

It's a gun that you can have fun with and enjoy the act of shooting.
It's not "mall ninja" at all. The Rossi ranchhand and the Ruger 10-22 pistol are both guns like this.
I am not going to buy one but I could see myself shooting a buddies and having a good time at the range. if it was all I had I would use it in a self defence situation.

Maybe, just maybe if they sell guns like these the other gun manufacturers will start innovating and we will get even more fun, cool looking things.
If not we can always go back to shooting an AR design from the 60's, rifle and shotgun designs from the 30's. Those old timey guns with a few plastic gadgets are the real mall ninja guns.

ummmm....to each their own. But with 3 exceptions, every gun in my collection is shootable - including those dating back to the 1800's. To be sure - anyone that wants one of these Uber-Cool Zombie Getters is welcome to do so - just don't be figgerin' ah'll be one of 'em.....because there IS a limit on the amount of useless crap I want on stuff...<G>
