This is a prime example of why people need to teach their kids, from a young age, gun safety. A gun is always loaded, and only point at things you are gonna shoot.

KLTV 7 News Tyler, Longview, Jacksonville |Mount Pleasant High School Student Killed

An accidental shooting in Titus County kills a 16 year old... And another teenager in now jail facing a manslaughter charge.
The shooting happened around 7:00pm Monday night off of Highway 67 in the Cooksville community of Mount Pleasant. 19 year old Samuel David Parmer is in Titus County Jail charged with manslaughter.
Authorities tell me the victim was 16 year old Riley Porter. Riley was a junior at Mount Pleasant High School.

On Tuesday, school officials told us four grief counselors were in the school helping kinds cope with the lost of Porter. Titus County authorities tell us, several teens were hanging out at the home and alcohol could have been involved.

They say the suspect, Parmer, cocked a shotgun and aimed it at Porter. The shotgun blast hit the 16 year old in the head.
"This will show the importance of gun safety and the importance of never pointing a weapon. The most dangerous weapon is a unloaded weapon and that's what happened in this case," said Sheriff Tim Ingram, of the Titus County Sheriff's Department.
If convicted, Parmer could face up to 20 years in prison. He is in the Titus County jail on a $25,000 bond.
