Had some fun back in the day. Hard to believe that it's been 14 years, and a couple of us have passed on. That look on Herb Remington's face after Chuck Crow took his piano ride was one of a musician enjoying playing and liking what he heard ...

Absolutely NOTHING like "Milk Cow Blues".

Here's another version with a bit of Texas Swing history behind it.

For those old time Houstonians, this was at the historic Bill Mraz Dance Hall in North Houston.

A month later, late Sunday evening, October 24, 2004, the historic old hall burned to the ground. We (Wild River Band) played the traditional Sunday afternoon dance that day ... the last band to play the hall.

Historic aspect: Wild River Band's steel guitarists, Herb Remington, played with Bob Will's from 1945 to 1951. Also, Dan Chambers, sitting in on this cut on vocals, is one of the Chamber's brothers, part of the group who played and toured with the Broadway show "Best Little Whore House in Texas".

Dayem! I have a soft spot for Texas Swing music! Much of the reason I so enjoyed the earlier music of George Strait, and have remained one for many years now.

George did a lot of Bob Wills, and Texas Swing when he was still playing the bars and honky tonka starting out, before he got really famous.

He also recorded a cover of "Milk Cow Blues" years ago. Excellent version.
