My EDC knife is a Spyderco Manix2 with G-10 grips. Its larger than I had wanted, but I've gotten used to it. I use it a lot, and it keeps an edge for a very long time. I've had it for almost a year and have sharpened it twice.
    Good luck in your search.

    Cheers!!

I love these threads. There are so many options and variables. I pulled a SOG Aegis and a Kizer Frame lock out of the drawer to carry for the week. I have about 50 in the drawer and that doesn't include the old school pricey items. I mostly favor frame lock flippers with ball bearing action to open with either hand. 3.25-3.5 being a good blade length

This is the knife I have carried for the last five years. It's not a thumb assist, but opens about as easy as a switchblade with but no button. Very high quality and being carbon fiber (handle) is very light. Not cheap, but well worth it. I can hold something in one hand, pull it from my pocket, open, cut easily, fold and put back in my pocket all with one hand:

I'm a Spyderco fanboy. I find the Delica a perfect size for my EDC.
