A fingerprint left on a business card that fell out of the male victim's wallet led police to the 16-year-old suspect, Williams said last week.

16 years old. Fingerprints already on file but yea white supremacists are coming to kill us all in our sleep right?

FBI crime statistics don't lie. Carry a gun or end up like these two people

FBI crime statistics say that practically no one is coming to kill you in your sleep.

Not sure what relevance this post has to the story.

Dogs and/or alarm... but primary importance is locking the freaking doors. Every time.

Even here in (relatively) sleepy west Texas, in a town of 100k, there is a home invasion in the 'better' side of town every few years.

11 years ago a group of about 10 were burglarizing homes, at night, while occupants were sleeping. They entered 100% of the homes through garage doors either completely open, or left a foot or so up for the cat or dog to use. When some of them were caught they said if a door was locked, or they heard a dog barking inside- regardless of size- they skipped that house.

About 7 years ago, a mother was home at 8pm with her 2 kids when a group of 3 teenagers walked in through the unlocked front door... father had run to walmart and no one locked the door. They had tried an entire block of front doors before finding one unlocked.

    LOCK your DOORS, people!

Thank you. I don’t understand the thread title at all.

The more correct form is "never go to crime scene #2". The implication being wherever you are, is crime scene #1. The reasoning is, the probability if being killed at crime scene #2 is 10x higher than crime scene #1. So run/fight/whatever at crime scene #1.

This from some crime detective from the 70s/80s who wrote a book on this kind of stuff.

Site B = anything away from your current location. Don't let yourself be taken to the ATM. Appeasement doesn't work with criminals or children or anyone else.
