Hey how's it going y'all. My name is Joshua and I've recently joined TGT. I am a current officer in the Army, been in for almost 5 years. Used to be a firefighter in Minnesota for 3 years before I had an injury. Currently I also treat patients with depression/anxiety/PTSD (among other mental illnesses) for a year now. I live in Houston, recently married. Born and raised in Houston. I am 23 years old. I came here looking for information, as well as connect with other gun enthusiasts.

I'm guessing you are a retread (prior enlisted) since you are 23 and you've been in the Army for 5 years. How old were you when you were a firefighter in Minnesota to have done that for 3 years?

And somewhat yes. I enlisted in 2019 and went to FT. Benning for BCT. I did a split program since I was in college at the time. During the fall semester, I was contacted by the campus ROTC program to see if I wanted to become an officer. Since I went to BCT, I was able to actively drill with a National Guard FA unit until my commission in 2022. I became a firefighter in 2018 (I was 18 years old) to help pay for college. I did that until 2021 when I fell off a roof and injured myself. I decided that the Army breaks my body enough so I quit to focus on my military career and college studies hahah. I loved my job but realized I was pulling myself in too many directions.

I was a paid-on call firefighter in 2018. I was 18 at the time and joined to help pay for college. I joined the Army in 2019 in the National Guard which allowed me to do firefighting and drill simultaneously. It was fun, had a lot of great memories, but it was stressful to balance my worklife with schooling.

Lived here all my life hahah. When I moved to Minnesota for school, my buddies told me I was paranoid for locking the doors on our apartment. Couldn't believe there were places out there where I didn't need to worry about daily break-ins or robberies. Nice place to raise a family.
