I admit it, I like weird things
I’ve been looking for a 5.45x39 upper to bolt on my other lowers but couldn’t really find a bargain
So I emailed Adams Arms asking if they still make uppers like that. They said “no, but we still have a small batch of complete rifles” so ordered one. And here it is:

I have one complete in 5.45 and one upper in 5.56. Only shot the 5.56 so far as I don't want to open the crate of 5.45 yet.
Shoots very smooth and works great suppressed.

I was under the impression that ammo had gotten hard to come by. Never really looked for it though.

Ammo used to be dirt cheap, until Russian imports were frowned upon. Mostly surplus, possibly corrosive, but was .11-.12/rd. I believe that there are several choices for new ammo, but at prices on par with 7.62x39.

I sold mine once the cheap surplus went sky high. Shot great.

Mags would work fine if not loaded to max. Theres also some postings about the mapul Gen2 windowed mags will work with 20ish rounds.

    First range trip
    40 rounds of SilverBear
Accuracy looks good. Open sights, aging eyes at 50 yards gave frequent 2in 5-shot groups, occasionally even smaller.
It came with one mag, and that was I suspect cause for 5 or so malfunctions. Common was failure to strip the first round into chamber when dropping the bolt. It would also fail to pick up mid-string a couple times. Maybe the mag will break in. It’s a metal CProducts.
It is blocked to 9 rounds (likely 10 but I didn’t force the last one)

Recoil is mild, obviously. Ejected 2’oclock and tossed 2 or so ft. No failure to extract or eject.

Will put a basic red dot on, and get some more mags.
Hell, I may put my Nikon p-223 2-8 power on it

    VIT,

Thanks and thanks for the link.

The cost is a darn good deal and FFL fee was very reasonable.

    You did great!

I looked at the specs beyond the piston and found it to be a mid length gas system. Best for a 16".

I like the 1:8 twist rate too.

    You're gonna love it!

Yea I was looking for a upper to bolt on something but figured cost of upper plus bolt and carrier and all the extras, a complete, built rifle was worth the small extra
