Stock arrived today and I was quite a bit Pissed to say the least after a call and email I am to recieve a 50% rebate.
I specifically ask for these things to be done ONLY.
1= inlet for barreled action for Vanguard short action and add a forearm tip blank/Chunk of wood.
2= cut rough shape approximately 20-30% of your Monte Carlo stock leaving extra wood.
3= install recoil pad again 20-30% to match rough cut.
4= add sling swivels to package but not installed.
NOTE: Customer will shape stock to his pattern.
Well I got a full cut stock, recoil pad and installed swivels.
It's rough probably comparable to a 36 grit grinder.
So I am reshaping the best I can with what I got.
Reshape grip to a more relaxed sweep 3/3".
Narrow grip all around and remove the swell and sharpness at the base 1/4 and 1/2".
Reshape an move back the toe of the raised cheek piece about 3/4".
I'll play with this a while.
I don't like the color of the forend tip so staining to a deeper color before finishing.
The inleting is great but the fitment of the bottom metal needs a little fill.
Barrel channel will be enlarges for a free load barrel and I'll pillar bed or glass bed the action.

Mocking up some checkering patterns. I kinda like this one but maybe a bit smaller on the grip. Checkering will actually be stippling because I never learned how to checker and the tools ain't cheap. A Dremel tool gets used alot versus checkering tools.
Oh and I epoxy filled the knot hole. Not ready to sand yet.

Couldn't get over the color of the faded Rosewood tip they installed and it wouldnt take stain very well so today it went into the fire pit.
I was happy to see that they dowled it
so I predrilled for a new one. Going to use African Blackwood for a new one and also add a grip cap.

I built my first from scratch stock last year. Built it for my first AR build. It looks like hunting rifle, No plastic and bird cage, smile. Made it from Maple that I already had. Every action has it's own work around to hand fitting from what I've seen. Congratulations on the progress. I sympathize.

New ebony wood tip and grip cap coming soon.
Just cut the two pieces from the chunk of wood I bought actually more of a bar stock than a chunk. It arrived snail mail so much longer than expected.
I'll dowel em up and start grinding on em when glue has cured.

    Well here it is.
Gonna need a little bit of TLC if I feel like it but I'm calling it done. Down the road I'll pillar bed it.
Here's two pics, one in the shade and one in the sun.
I think it would look better on a blued barrel and action.
