    From the Bearing Arms blog;
    'Minnesota is very much a blue state these days. However, it’s not an overly anti-gun state. They have fairly modest gun control restrictions in place.
    Lawmakers seem to want to change that, but the gun control being considered is still mild compared to states like New York, California, or New Jersey."

    The article continues with some details on the proposed new anti-gun laws and their lack of common sense and likely that they can't be effectively enforced.

    Washington Gun Law channel has further details on this bill. It is really bad.

    "This legislation, if enacted into law, would literally take what other states often times take a decade to accomplish and do this in one legislative session."

    Two points to mention this bill would require one to have liability insurance to own a gun (what insurance carrier would insure that sort of policy). And the state would have to give one permission to acquire gun. Crazy. There are lots of other bad issues with bill.

    Any gun law that has any kind of discretion written into it is no bueno. NJ has that at the state level. If someone even thinks you shouldn’t own a gun you’re screwed whether they have any kind of proof or not.

    And suck in CA, NJ, OR, MD, NY etc etc etc too many to list but you know them all
    As someone astutely pointed out on another forum I frequent, everyone in relatively freer states will shrug or laugh at liberals running the place as un-American as possible. Then when its so unlivable, people start fleeing and continue to vote blue in states they land in. We can't make threads complaining about all the liberals moving to Texas (or elsewhere) then get shocked when they have a majority and start restricting gun rights that were previously laughing.

    Second Amendment organizations won a major victory in federal court on Friday as U.S. District Judge Katherine Menendez ruled that the state’s prohibition on lawful carrying by adults under the age of 21 is not in accordance with the history and tradition of the right to keep and bear arms.

    WOW!!! A Biden appointed judge got it right. The sky is falling. Foe the legal geeks or anyone with an interest on the forum read over the judge's opinion summarized. She is no fan of SCOTUS Bruen decision but she followed the law as an 'inferior federal court'.

    Any gun control is gun control. Plus imposing financial punishment onto law-abiding gun owners in the form of mandatory fees is taxation without representation. With MN being blue now, I foresee these infringing laws being passed. And there goes another state and its civil liberties.

    Unfortunately for those good folks [of MN], they’re about to have to deal with gun control whether they wanted it or not. [From Bearing Arms blog]

    A public safety bill with two major gun control measures is now heading to Gov. Tim Walz’s desk after being approved by the Minnesota Legislature.

    The Minnesota House, which had already passed the gun measures, again voted on and approved the package early Tuesday. The Senate passed the bill last week.

    The legislation would expand background checks to private gun transfers, not just purchases in federally licensed firearms dealers, and implement a “red flag” law authorizing extreme risk protection orders. That allows a family member or law enforcement to petition a court to suspend someone’s access to guns if deemed a harm to themselves or others.

    Let the lawsuits begin. Sad for the lawful and responsible gun owners or wanna-be gun owners in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. State restricting their 2A rights and they will fight through years of court battles to get these new laws gone.

    Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz proclaimed that the addition of a “red flag” law and a new “universal background check” mandate that doubles as a backdoor gun registry won’t impact legal gun owners as he signed an omnibus public safety bill into law on Friday; an assertion that will likely soon be tested in the courts.

    From Bearing Arms blog;

    One of the problems with the gun control side is that the problem is never that gun control failed, it’s that there’s insufficient gun control. When these measures in Minnesota don’t have the desired effect, there won’t be any reevaluation of the laws on the books. No one will suggest repealing these failed measures before trying something else.

    No, it’ll be spun as these measures are needed, they just didn’t go far enough, so Minnesota needs to pass another gun control law. Then another. And another.

    Minnesota gun rights groups are going to have to dig in, assuming they haven’t already. They’re going to be in for a fight going forward and things aren’t looking good for them. The urban enclaves hold too much sway.

    Don't disagree.
    Maybe they could finally DO something about gun control and actually enforce it. That's right, I said it. Libtards should enforce existing gun control laws that we already have. Nothing wrong with them. If they confiscated guns from thugs, criminals and felons, don't you think that would reduce crime rates drastically? Isn't that logical?
    Oh right, never mind, pardon my own stupidity. I did not realize that libtards are not only not logical people, they actually do not want to reduce crime rates. Presumably because they can milk them for knee-jerk laws that would let them slowly usurp more and more control of the country.
    Am I way off here?

    You nailed it. To paraphrase "Maha Rushie" (aka El Rushbo) liberals/leftist need to constantly create/maintain victims to have someone to cater to and pay off to get their votes.

    MN proposing the IL model for ban of semi-automatic rifles (and pistols) to be effective this summer. Ds control the legislature and governor's office. It could pass.
