It's been close to 15 years since I've been to Detroit. This stuff was just starting then, and it was when entire neighborhoods were just beginning to be abandoned (There's actually an entire small municipality in the Detroit Metro Area that's been abandoned - a recently-vacated ghost town in a major metro area!!). It was scary as hell back then. I can only imagine now...

I've been to Detroit many times in the last 15 years and there's a lot about the place I love. I guess I'm weird.

Detroit is a classic example of loss of manufacturing, liberal governing and white flight, and it's all about do you want freedom or have government care for you.

Been to Detroit on business. Far as I'm concerned, it could be used for nuclear target practice. The real tragedy - to us - is that our tax dollars will no doubt be used to bail out that cesspool of Obama voters.

I have a tendency to end up in the wrong part of town, hahaha. I'm a country boy who has trouble navigating in cities. Every big city I visit, I end up taking a wrong turn and ending up in the worst that town has to offer.

What I gather They have to balance the budget, settle claims,pay legal bills, and still have to deal with unfunded liabilities(previously issued bonds etc). Everyone comes to the able to hammer out all the problems, and an independent third party presides over it. Public service(firefighters,police etc gets cut some stations close down) preventive maintenance gets throw out, roads dont get repaired, vehicles dont get repaired nor do new ones get bought. That said who knows what they will actually do, my 2 cents they will get bailed out.. I hope not.

Sometimes. Other times, I just want to go home. Much safer with a local as a "guide". People in the bad part of town don't like outsiders much.

All bills for raising revenue originate in the House. Course, with the convoluted bureaucracy that makes up the Executive Branch, Obama can probably "launder" some tax money for 'em.
I personally think they should get a payday loan from China...
