Plink a 22 through the eyeball and let it swirl around the cranium a bit, then you won't have to make such big, messy holes. ;)

Granted but the M1216 was a LOT more fun to shoot than any AR. Not to mention a 12 gauge puts big holes in stuff. The grin factor was off the charts.

No way I can argue that.
My oldest daughter was kinda "meh" on rifles and pistols.
First outing with the mossberg 500A, she just laughed an evil laugh.
We got her one the next day. It's still her favorite.

All guns are a hoot to shoot, some more than others. And that "fun" factor can vary from time to time. But the M1216 has held my son's interest longer than anything I can remember other than baseball. Can't tell you how many times I've heard "Hey dad, why don't we order one?" since then.

my Wife has a S&W 686+ 4" coming to that same LGS (FFL) today, she'll pick it up tomorrow when she gets back home - I'll show their 1216 to her and see what she thinks of it

by the way, Bud's has these for about $750 less than the LGS is selling it for (before taxes) !

There was a shooter at one of the local meets who let my son and I shoot his M1216. Nicely put together shotgun and if functioned perfectly for us. Lots of fun to shoot, big grins afterwards. My only concern would be cost. Not for the gun but for the ammo, shooting this thing could easily be habit forming.

    I LOVE my 1216!

And yeah, I buy ammo by the case for it, but God it's a ton of fun......take it to the range and the RSOs part like the Red Sea did for Moses, the range bunnies scramble to sniff you spent hulls, and it puts a bigger smile on my face than......never mind.

I waited nearly a year to get mine, and it was worth every second and every penny.

my LGS has the 1216 priced at $2599 (which includes a $200 second mag) - Bud's was selling it for $1859 (with one mag) but checked again yesterday and Bud's raised the price to $1999

    I think I'll pass

(wish my Wife was "ok" with a pump - the 14 round, 2 tube Kel-Tek KSG is interesting)
