    Why do people write "subscribed", or "subbed" in threads, instead of hitting the "watch" button up top?
    "Subbed", for a typist, can be entered effortlessly, easier than a single mouse click. Then it's one mouse click to "Post reply."

    Using the "watch" button, though, requires at least three mouse clicks, iirc.

    If you're a trained typist, the first option is easy and efficient with one irritating break in the flow. The second option is one irritating break in the flow after another after another.

    Rightly or wrongly, to many people the "subbed" method is more natural and just feels more efficient.

    Also, lots of people are completely oblivious to what's right in front of their faces and have never noticed the "watch" button. Thanks for pointing it out. :)
