Damn. That's bad. Train wins every time.
    For sure.

I won't embed it here and I advise anyone who hasn't seen it not to search for it. Most of us, however, have seen the video of the woman and her small daughter who run to a railroad crossing to try to beat the train. The woman realizes it's not safe and pulls up short but she's not holding the hand of the little girl. The girl runs ahead, is struck by the fast-moving engine, and her lifeless body flies past the camera as if she were shot from a cannon.

When I was a kid, none of the RR crossings in my town had crossing arms. I think 5 people died at those crossings while I lived there.

I said all that to say this: You are absolutely correct that the train will always win. My personal experience leads me to go nowhere near a moving train.

Yup, racing a train only seems to work well in the movies. And not always then.
    Dirty Mary & Crazy Larry...:green:

Train switchyard in Teague. Have a couple of rail deaths a year from folks crossing. Usually stoned or drunk thinking they can race/crawl under/etc.

About every five years we will get a call and it will be one of the yard hands. Usually middle of the night, when they push off three or four cars and run them down a rail to stack them, apparently they roll practically silent.

    Always bad.
