I read a "Dear Abby" (or Ann Landers or Miss Manners or maybe somewhere else) many, many years ago where the person had guests in her house for dinner and a guest found the poop knife in the bathroom. Being a good guest, the knife was brought to the kitchen where the guest proceeded to use it to help prepare dinner.
I don't remember the details or her advice. I just remember the notion that there are whole families out there whose poops are so large and solid they can't be flushed, thus creating the need for a poop knife. That was the first time I'd ever heard of such a thing.
