    My FFL also warned me about this. There's nothing stopping you from picking up more than one firearm a day, but it will flag the ATF and they can of course then choose to come say hi and see how things are at the house. I think he was just letting you know that it pops up a flag to the ATF if you do multiple firearm purchases in a single day. I however did not request that he cite me the reference, just told him I had nothing to hide and the alphabet boys can stop by for coffee if they like.
    That dead couple in Houston had nothing to hide either.

    I didn't say I agreed with it. I think it's stupid. What difference does it make if I pick up two firearms at the same time?

    From what I was explained, they could come check to see if you still have both firearms in your possession, and they were not purchased to be distributed illegally. Don't know, ATF does ATF things. Always making up new laws.
