"The tentative agreement would further restrict New York's ban on assault weapons and limit the size of magazines to seven bullets, rather than the current 10."

I wonder if the 7 rule is an attempt to hurt gun and mag manufacturers financially by having to re-tool/modify manufacturing equipt.

I would think they could just start making new mags to be sent to NY and still make everything else as normal.
I'd say gun and magazine manufacturers would respond in the same way the gun manufacturers did to the Peoples' Socialist Яepublik of Kalifornia's "proposed" microstamping law. In other words, they'd tell New York to go suck eggs because they won't retool for one small market. Kind of sucks for the gun owners in New York because of the stupidity of the legislature there but they'll be S.O.L. for the purchase of "compliant" magazines.
