pretty much par for the course. Similar to the constant bitching about rich vs poor gap while doing everything in his power to expand it.

    Two things:

He didn't say religion is under attack. He said the freedom of religion is under attack. Those are two entirely different subjects and the confusion thereof will lead people down a pissy moany road. If anything the thread title should read "Obama says '...religion is under attack'.

Secondly, ”It’s also clear that around the world, freedom of religion is under threat.” is what he said. That's misleading because the freedom of religion is only applicable to citizens of the United States. No wonder religious minorites are persecuted in other countries, it's a reason our founding fathers... founded. So, he's really talking out his ass to pander to the masses. So, there's really no news here at all.

A nuance but important...freedom of religion not only applicable to the United States any more than the right to bear arms is. These are universal human rights granted by our Creator. That what the founders believed. That's what I believe.

They just codified the protection of a few specific basic human rights in our bill of rights. The 9th amendment is a catch all for every other human right they forgot to specifically call out in the other amendments.

All people everywhere in the world have a right to assemble, to have a press, to speak freely, to practice their religion, to bear arms, etc. Their governments are simply violating their human rights.

Rights can never be granted nor stripped away by governments. They can only be oppressed or made illegal in their theoretical authority called government.

Religion under attack? It depends upon what religion you're talking about.

Obama's Muslim bunch is doing pretty well. They've killed our service men and women at their convenience, cover for and hide our nation's enemies and raked in borrowed US Dollars from a nation that's totally bankrupt! They're doing great!

Meanwhile Christians are being slaughtered, attacked at home and abroad and vilified as "Infidels".
