Just stopping by real quick to let everyone know I've been open carrying in New Mexico for the last few days and plan to do a write-up about it when I get some time. Things I have learned so far:

OC is good PR for gun owners.
OC is awesome for walking dogs.
OC is very nice for hiking.
Fun things like mini-golf, baseball cages and mini gran prix are even funner with guns.
Famous UFOlogists are mesmerized by open carry.
Salt Lake City cops are way too nosey.
    New Mexico cops are awesome.
    Texas needs open carry.

Confused? Intrigued? All will be explained shortly... with pictures!

Wait... Didn't someone tackle you and take your weapon away? Don't lie. Show pics of the tackling and weapons retention moves you had to put on the droves of perps trying to disarm you. How could you be so reckless? Minigolf? Lol.

    In for the laughs!

OC is awesome for hiking. That's the only place I've really OC'd in NM, but my luck being what it is, a cop drove by when I was unloading my car one year. He noticed the pistol and.... gave me a big friendly wave and kept on driving. Open carry rocks.

Everything in life is better with a gun. Everything you do with cloths on at least. Texas needs open carry. I would love to not have to worry about going from legal to felon reaching for the salsa on the top shelf at the grocery store...

Not tryin' to start any chit, but.................................that isn't illegal unless you were trying to show it! (Got to be "knowingly" displaying it.)

Maybe I should plan my next hiking/camping trip to NM, so I can get a taste of OC.
I have a spot I can suggest. It's pretty rugged, but worth it. Definitely need to take at least one other if you go. It's the kind of place you might not get found for a week or two if somethin goes wrong.

I spend to much time in Austin to not still be afraid of that scenario. Nice to know that it might be an irrational fear though.. :)

Open carry would take all of the discretion out of it.

Yeah, it is. The language is along the lines of "intentionally or recklessly". So as long as you don't do it on purpose or because you don't give a shit, you're good.

    Kind of the point... :p

Yeah I'm confused (or maybe you are), as Salt Lake City is in Utah!
