Iffn' ya' wanna' go out west as far as a bit west of Big Spring, there's a great place off I-20 for trucks/jeeps and bikes/atv's and they allow camping/overnight stays.
I've been bitten by the Overlanding bug. Any body have any routes or know of any roads that are off the beaten path and preferably not pavement. I definitely would like to include the James River Rd into the route and maybe make my way to marble falls.
Only problem with cline ranch is the need to be with a group.... $200 if its just yourself. I still need to go to Hidden Falls, but would love to tour the hill country on some public backroads. So if ya know any, name em!
Just keep in mind that since 1 Jan 2004, motorized vehicles are prohibited from navigable river or stream in Texas. A motor vehicle is defined as “any wheeled or tracked vehicle, machine, tractor, trailer, or semitrailer propelled or drawn by mechanical power and used to transport a person or thing” and a navigable river or stream is one that “retains an average width of 30 or more feet from the mouth or confluence up.”
There are some exceptions to that, but for the most part it applies to all navigable waterways in Texas.
Waterway crossing are OK, just to venture off them!
