    I do believe that 503 is from "Flight of the Intruder" and was shot down over enemy territory shortly after 505 and Cole, Virgil Cole and Willem Defoe (character not remembered as of this writing(Characters could be reversed, as it has been a very long time since I read the book, and, or, seen the movie.)) were shot down.
