My son was a crew chief on the Bergstom AFB F4s until they transitioned over to F 16s. He spent 12 years working the flight line there.
The 67th was apparently supposed to transition to F-16s but base closure scuttled those plans and they ended their flying days with the RF-4C's. They're a non-flying "cyberspace" wing out at Davis-Monthan now.
The 924th ceased to exist and their brand new F-16s and the "TX" tailcode and Texas flag fin flash transferred up to the 301st in Fort Worth at what I still refer to as Carswell AFB instead of the alphabet soup they renamed it to. The 301st fought for years to get the "TF" tailcode for "Tarrant Field", which Carswell was originally named, but just a few years later I don't think they complained about being the AFRES unit with "TX" on their tails. A few years ago the 924th reactivated as an A-10 training squadron at Davis-Monthan.
