Whenever I see those, I am reminded of those gay tassels on bicycle handlebars back in the 60s.

I remember the last time I tried to take photos like that. I had a decent freelance relationship with the local newspaper and could count on making a few bucks from photos like that.

I never got closer than 50 yards from the scene but, long story short, the firemen didn't like being photographed and turned the fire hose on me. They actually stopped fighting the fire in favor of making it rain on me. I got the message and left. That was almost 50 years ago and in all the life I've lived since then, nothing has taught me why they reacted like that. I'll go to my grave mystified over that one.

That's pretty sad to hear... and totally uncallled for by them.

These guys were great, as everyone from AFD has been when on scene with them.
