    At least there were no ya gots a pretty mouth boy but he did say we will take it out on trade
    So red i trade the day fo a coke and a smile!!!!

    That's interesting. Considering the USA didn't have jurisdiction over Texas at that time it had no force of law...until Appomattox.

    Still pretty cool. Being born and bred Southern, I still can't fathom how so many people thought it was OK to own another human being as property. I dislike the politics and the balance of power that came out of the North winning their war of aggression, but it did fix a major wrong.

    Well, truth be told, while there WAS slavery in East Texas (mostly because of the proximity to LA), the rest of the state generally didn't want/approve of slavery. The German settlements pretty much would ostrichize any slave owner, feeling it was wrong to "own" another human.
