I keep my back up drive in my BOB because if the house does catch fire my BOB is coming with me!You may want to consider an external hard drive instead. You can get a 250 gig drive for $60 and it's as easy to use as plugging in a mouse. You'd also have to buy the backup software, so figure that cost in too. One possible disadvantage is that it'll burn down too if the house does. But it's cheaper than a continuous monthly fee.

yerah i dont trust online backups.
jsut seems a little fishy to me.
call me paranoid, but my files are MY files, and i dont want anyone else 'holding on to them" for me.
even if it is in some hardrive ina closet somehwere, that noone goes.
i like my TB external.
heavy encryption!
I like my detachable drive also. I am not a fan of leaving all my data online with a company. It is a hackers bullseye. Plus, those external drives are getting less expensive every month.
Why would I want some company in New York with all of my files and personal information at their fingertips? The first time I heard that, I thought to myself, no one would do that. But, I guess they do. I back my home computer up once a week on an external, and it goes in the safe.
If you really care about your date, you will do some sort of offsite backup. Leaving a backup in the same room, or god forbid, attached to your computer is irresponsible at best. At a minimum get it away from your machine, that way if one goes, it is less likely they both will.
