These folks are not waiting, and they do not compromise, and they shove it in your face at every opportunity:

    Battleground Texas

Good luck with "wait and see". I certainly hope you got it right ... not afraid to say that it scares the hell outta me at this point.

This is not the civil rights movement.

No disrespect to you, but no other than SCOTUS, in 'District of Columbia v Heller', confirmed the Second Amendment as a "fundamental civil right". Look it up.

Before you go off on a tangent ... "civil disobedience" has been used to change laws in this country since the Boston Tea Party. ;)

The difference is that Rosa didn't have the benefit of having her probable next governor and state legislature agree with her.

Let's just leave it like this: You have a whole lot more faith in the Reality TV generation to give a rat's ass and go to the polls than I do.

But I do hope like hell you're right.

I can promise you my meeting with and fundraising for my Representatives, tireless word of mouth campaign, driving from meeting to meeting/fundraiser to fundraiser has a much greater effect for the cause of open carry in Texas than any in your face hey look at me, I've got a gun hurr hurr protests will ever do.

I've met with District Atty's, County Sheriff's, state and national representatives from all over the state.

I put my money and time where my mouth is. You may not understand how these protests pull us further away from the states goals.

I understand perfectly that if you don't put your money where your mouth is at the polls, as most unarguably don't seem to bother with, than the road to hell is still paved the same as always.

I have been reading the comments here. I am in the reality tv age range. There are far more that have no ckue than those who understand. I have never carried a rifle to a rally. I went to last years rally in Austin. I will attend the next one as well. I still will not carry a rifle or shotgun. I support the movement with my voice and attendance. I dont have much else to say about the whole thing. Just confirming that I am afraid of the young generations that are spoonfed socialistic ideas all day long in school. The probability of Greg making governor may be a no brainer right now to us, but I thought the same thing about Obama making a 2nd term... look how that turned out.

Please dont attack my poor spelling and punctuation. I am using a cell phone with a crapy keyboard that is glitchy. I am also autospell dependent... lol. <--- Bazinga aka sarcasm. It really is the glitchy keyboard...

Edit to add that i dont even own a rifle or a shotgun. So I am not speaking up for myself. I understand why we need OC in Texas. I will never OC in public. I understand that it should be a personal choice for people to make.

I hope I'm right too. Id really like to see everything work out peacefully through the legislative process.

The reason that these rallies are being conducted, correct me if I'm wrong London, is because certain entities have decided to apply other laws in a matter that may or may not have been the legislative intent, in order to prevent such "legal" behavior.

You are correct, sir! Although at this point I must point out (for all those who are just skimming pages) that at this point we are no longer discussing the SYG rally and are now debating OC rallies.

    My 2 cents...

Why not wait, vote for Abbott, and then OC after we get that passed for handguns? Why shove it in peoples faces now when victory is probable during the next session.

I get the sentiment but let's use our heads.

(I sure hope i didn't misspell anything words or use them improperly. I don't want any demerits from the grammar police.)

At that point, if the police continue on their current course they will simply have more people to arrest for previously mentioned non-crimes.
