Hotwells $14 to get and $14 per gun.I don't think I have ever been to a range that charged "by the gun"
Is that normal down there ?

Yea, that just does not make any sense at all to me. I'd call them up and make them an offer. I know that shooting is way, way down right now, and they might be negotiable.Crappy thing is I probably won’t need to shoot but 3 rounds per gun

Well I still say I would call and make them an offer. If the range is empty, and it may be or at least very slow, they might be willing to work a deal. One range you could try is https://brazosriversportsmansclub.com/
It's best to call and find out as they don't list pricing on their site.
Yes, it is for the outdoor public ranges here. It's a shitty policy that seems to be aimed at new shooters and folks wanting to sight in their deer rifles.
Even though I don't shoot very often, it's the reason I maintain a club membership so I can bring a pile of guns and shoot outdoors.

Other than I totally screwed up posting about an indoor range, on the South side - what's your point?Outdoor range by the hour
It's not new, no. Indoor ranges don't seem to charge this way. I have no idea how this pricing model evolved.
Well, while you are right about that, there is zero good reason to charge per gun as I see it. Charging a daily fee, or a fee for a 1/2 day, would make more sense to me. A daily fee was what I was used to up north. Seems to me they are discouraging, purposefully or not, how many guns anyone brings to the range. I used to often bring at least half a dozen guns with me to outdoor ranges. I'd not be doing that had they been charging a per gun fee, in fact I'd have been doing what the OP is doing - looking for another range.Good luck in your search OP, no outdoor range in their right mind would have an indoor range price set up

Your explanation makes sense for why they don't charge by the hour but doesn't explain the per gun pricing, which is still insane.
