Has anyone here ever painted an aluminum AR-15 upper? Mine doesn't match my handguard. Just wondering if anyone has done this before, and if there's anything to watch out for. Anyone every try actually anodizing aluminum at home?

Painting it how? Rattle can or polymer paint? I've never anodized anything. Parkerised yes. Looking into it, it'd seem fairly straight forward. I'd practice on a few things before doing the upper. If it needs bead blasted. Most radiator shops use to have the blasting hood box thingy. I've had a Malloy distributor head blasted by a radiator shop.

    Found this,

They say it mil-spec grade. I'd try it. If you do anodize' it. Create it's own thread. Show everybody how it go's.

I think brownells makes an aluminum paint, Alumihide or. something.

I opted to strip my upper

And yes, the 300blk on the bottom has a $100 scope on $10 rings. I haven't gotten to my "optics" phase yet.

I’ve used Duracoat for a lot of projects. The last time I looked it seems like they had some spray type cans. It’s pretty durable if applied right (prepping the parts mainly)
