Pasadena man in custody after wife shot dead
A Pasadena man who is in custody for fatally shooting his wife at their home during an argument early this morning said he accidently fired an assault rifle at her.
The couple's 8-year old son was at home at the time of the shooting, but was not injured, police said. It's uncertain if the child witnessed the shooting.
The shooting happened about 2 a.m. at the couple's home in the 500 block of Burke. Charges against the man are expected to be filed soon.
The woman, whose name has not been released, apparently was shot once in the face with an AK-47, said Vance Mitchell, spokesman for the Pasadena Police Department. She died at the scene.
No other injuries were reported.
The man, whose name has not been released, called 911 after the shooting and said he had not meant to shoot her.
“His statement was, ‘I didn't mean to,“' Mitchell said.
He was at the home when officers arrived.
The couple's son is now staying with relatives.
