What have you guys found gun wise in a pawn shop. Outrageous scores, weird stuff, good deals etc.? What have you found?
I found an FN509 Tactical used for full MSRP. I laughed my way out of the place
The enjoyment of the total bs story that comes with the gun. I just want the gun but I pretend to care about it’s story. You hear the wildest horse sht.
Finding deals in Pawn Shops nowadays is rare.
They look at on-line auction sites and price accordingly. Many times stupidly high.
The last good deal I found was about 12yrs ago. A Savage 311 SxS in .410 for $200. Was in easily 98% condition. That was a one time thing tho.
These days I hardly bother with the nose bleed prices they want.
Found a Street Sweeper shotgun at a pawn shop for a very low price. It felt like junk and I passed. The very next day the announcement came out about them being re-classified. I hurried back and the guy looked at me like I was stupid for even trying.
Down here the Pawn Shops have lots of fishing tackle.
Its retarded what they want for beat to hell, corroded, not working fishing rods and reels!
You can literally purchase brand new gear for LESS than they're asking.
They will NOT deal down either.
General rule of Pawn Shops: the marked price is 100-150%+ more of what they have in it.
They do have to make a profit so factor that in.
The last few times I've tried they just will not haggle any more.
It depends on the store and owner. While still in Lebanon Oregon, I scored some good deals. Not amazing by any means but they were alright. My redhawk from 99, was there. No marks on the cylinder, shot very little. Got it for 600 out the door. My browning blr lightweight like new for 650. And my vepr12 for similar plus a box of buck.
But Lebanon is a gun town and you see high volume of trades and never knew when you will see something. I found my still in grease Yugo sks there. Not a good deal at 400 but i wanted one again.
Bought a S&W Model 39-2 in Leslies's Pawn shop in Seguin. That was 1980 and I had no idea what a 39-2 was, it just looked right. Paid $200. Didn't have to fill out a 4473 either Still have it, great shooter. And that's the last time I was in a pawn shop.
I got a Ruger Single Six with both lr and mag cylinders, in the original box, with the red felt cylinder bag for $200......last year. It was in almost 95% condition and I don't think the mag cylinder had ever been installed.
I also bought a Winchester model 101 shotgun, 20 gauge, pigeon grade, lightweight XTR in a case with two sets of every choke, in 95% condition for $1100, same pawn shop, only about a month apart from the Ruger.
I stop by there regularly and have seen some decent buys, just not something I wanted. Of all the pawn shops in the DFW metromess, this is the only one I've visted that seems to get a good rotation on their weapon inventory. Girl behind the counter says the sell at least 1 - 3 guns a day! And, NO, I won't tell you which one it is!
I bought my nib S&W 9mm shield in a local pawn shop. Was the best price I’d found on that model and I was actually looking for a good price on that gun so out the door it went with me.
I spotted a beautiful 1911 in the showcase of another local shop. It was a custom made model from the Jessie James collection. $3800. It did not leave with me. Lol.
