So i had been doing a little research on Hi-Point,
infact i posrted a thread w hile back asking for inupt from Hi-Point owners.
what i've read is that the weapons are like cats.
you either love them or hate them!

Well i went to the saxet show in San Antonio, and found a brand new HiPoint C-9 for under 150 bucks. Since opinions where so varied, i decided to go ahead and get it to decide for myself.

Aside from being rather top heavy, and not the most attractive pistol on the market (not as ugly as alot of people seem to think, i think it could be in the a same room with a glock and not feel self concious) accuracy was suprising!

first trip to the range was full of suprises. i neglected to clean the packing grease out of the weapon, totally slipped my mind as a matter of fact (was rather excited as this is my first handgun purchase, and the first time id fired apistol since i was 10 with a berreta bobcat) i loaded it up with cheap independace ammo. it ate it all without so much as a hiccup
recoil was non existant and accuracy was another suprise. from 15 feet i had all 8 shots inside the x ring. (i guess all that bb pistol practice paid off ;)

then i moved to winchester ranger +p ammo. noticeably more recoil, but still nothing even approaching uncomfortable. again tight group right in the middle. i had one flier off the paper, but that was me squeezing off a round to fast, and bnot aquiring the sigfht picture properly.

by the end of the day i had run a box of wolf two boxes of independance and a box of the ranger ammo. not a single fail to fire, fail to cycle or any sort of problem at all.

later tongiht when i get home from work ill take some low quality pics with my webcam to post i saved a particularly good target to show along with it.

even though im not a cat person, i love my little hi-point. bargain blaster that can perform out of the box. shot to point of aim with no adjustments.

I have one also, only problem I had was my hand is so big my thumb kept pressing the mag release and the mag would either fall out or down just enough to cause a fail to feed obviously. So I took it apart and put the plastic safety button on a grinder and made it just more than flush and have never had another issue with it. I only gave 75 bucks used for it so I took the chance on it and consider it money well spent. Every bit as acurate as I am with my 1000 buck smith & wesson too.

I have shot one and for a range gun they are great.
I want the 45 acp but thanks to another forum member I am considering the Bersa American Classic as well.

My son has one and it shoots great. He has the same thumb/mag release problem tho. I'll tell him about the grinding down the release idea and see what he thinks.

You need to try the carbine as well.. then you'll want one of those too. I bought one for $165 before all the craze.
