By the way, the fighting in Tigray is partly in response to the Ethiopian government efforts to disarm the local tribesmen.
The Ethiopian government owes the Chinese a lot of money (over $550 million). In order to start paying them back, they let the Chinese take over land in the Omo Valley for sugar plantations. This led to conflicts with the local tribes. Being well-armed, the tribes have gotten into bloody fights with the Chinese.
So the government had been trying to disarm their people and is part of the cause of the insurrection. At this point, there is even a separatist movement.
I am certain our Lefties will support the Ethiopian government (as directed by their Chinese political leaders).
