That's roughly equivalent to the .44 Mag and I intend to make the targets "iffy" to score with the .44 Mag. Jakashh references 340-grain bullets out of the .44 Mag and that's what it would take to start to be competitive. AFAIK, the .45 Win Mag is usually used to just get higher velocities from 230-260 grain bullets.

A Wildey in .45 Win Mag would be very well-suited to bring home one of the trophies - just not the overall match winner trophy.

    Thanks for the reply Ben!

I should have posted a wrap-up when the poll closed.

Since the poll closed ~1 year ago and there were only a dozen potential participants, I figured it wasn't worth the trouble and expense to do it right...or even to do it at all.

If you think things have changed, tell me why. I'm open to reconsidering my conclusion.

Up your count by one Ben. I would be interested if you try again. I am all for any excuse to shoot my sw500. I don't know how I missed this post the first time around.

I recently bought a BFR is why ;)

Also... I think you were wanting to make some custom targets, right? I've got access to a waterjet that will slice AR500 real pretty and can weld the plates to their stands. I'll offer my fabrication services to the project gratis if you pay for the materials. Let me know size, shape, and how many targets you're wanting and I'll get an estimate to you.

Wow. I don't know what to say. You just overcame my single biggest obstacle to doing this. I'm occupied at the moment but expect a PM from me soon.

Thank you. More than I can possibly say, thank you.
