We keep going back and forth between a destination or local wedding. We are making that decision this weekend. Our biggest problem is how to keep this a small event like we both want. the list keeps getting bigger and bigger. Oh brother .

Remember one thing.....the wedding is as much for the family as for ya'll. Taking it elsewhere, or making it overly expensive denies 'em the ability to share the event with you. You're gonna be having to live with them for many years - keep the peace.

The wedding will be over before you know it and you'll be lucky if you remember anything.

GPtwins - Big Phil is right, so splurge on a good photographer. When you go through that album it'll be the first time you actually see the wedding. Even more important, a thick album of high resolution photos and a dress lost somewhere in the back of the closet will be all that's left of the wedding a year later. Guess which one will actually be useful at social gatherings in the coming years?

    Ben, former wedding photographer

PS - Video is way overrated.
PPS - Learn to love going to "Bridal Extravaganzas". Your betrothed will probably want to attend far more than you think necessary so just relax and enjoy it.

    We eloped. July 31 1981.
Got a couple of pictures, somewhere.
The wedding is fluff, the vows are important.

Best of all possible solutions IF the female half truly agrees. If not, it can be a source of everlasting, seething resentment. I've seen it go both ways.

My parents essentially eloped and, in MY opinion, they had the greatest love ever shared by two people. When both parties agree that it's the vow, not the ceremony, then that's a sign of true love. Love your attitude, Vaquero.

Agree with the wedding photographer advice. And no, a "guy I know with a really cool camera and he takes really good pictures" is not the same as a "professional wedding photographer". Wedding photographers are expensive because they're worth it.
